A proper retro shopper like the good old days, just like your granddad used to have in the cupboard under the stairs. A bag that will last for years and age beautifully, and put an end to wasting money and the planets resources on disposable bags
Made in oilskin, waxed canvas, heavy duck canvas or dry wax canvas so it virtually stands up on it’s own – an important factor in shopping!
With super strong stabilised handles, a generous inside zip security pocket and a front profile stitched pocket. And an option to add side D-rings to attach a shoulder strap.
The bag has a flat base to allow for huge amounts of shopping and to hold its shape.
Oilskin and waxed canvas are amazing and virtually stand on their own, making them perfect for a large shopper, yet easy to sew on a domestic machine.
Your men folk are going to love this too, particularly in oilskin, and we know how hard it is to find a bag for men – it looks so weathered and vintage, and it’s really water resistant so great for the outdoors!
Three of these fit beautifully into a large shopping trolley and can accommodate the whole weekly shop, yet fold flat for easy storage.
There is also a second free smaller size included with the pattern as a bonus which is large enough to use as a handbag size shopper – great for coffee and shopping at the mall and days out at the park and really great for rainy days –a bag for the outdoors girl.
Oilskin is super strong yet supple, can be sponged clean, and if the look get’s a little too vintage for you, simply reset the oil or wax again with a hair dryer.
See the bag on my YouTube Channel – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSIOnZwMSFshiHMUXwzq51w
The bag is unlined to keep the bulk down but with chunky feature facings and inside pockets, and made using a super strong durable utility construction of French seams that conceal all raw edges so it will last for years and age beautifully.
Make it with bought straps, self fabric straps, webbing or even a stolen belt from your partner’s wardrobe – the instructions are included for all types.
I used rivet on PU leather handles which I also stock in my shop

Peggy Cooper –
I have never met a Spencer Ogg pattern that I did not love. So well written and easy to follow.
The detail in the instructions is remarkable…plenty of pictures and instruction to dispel most concerns. Function and beauty! Looking forward to making a supply of these.
Very well written pattern. I like the attention given to ensuring that this bag is strong and will last.
Love this pattern, great fun to make and so ruggedly good looking! I made both sizes and will be making more.
Fantastically strong construction, never made anything like this before. Love it
I love this bag. I used genuine British dry oilskin which really makes this bag special. Great pattern, was easy to follow and contains some good tips. I see more Forever Shopper bags in my future!
Love this pattern. Clear instructions make this bag easy to put together. I made my own waxed canvas and the bag pattern was well suited for this project.
I could not give enough stars! I made this bag (Forever Shopper) intending to wax it myself. Heavy weight canvas is a must if you want it to stand up. The instructions are so, so good. She also has produced tutorials on the aspects that this bag contains. Such as boxed corners. Thanks so much Diane! And she is super realistic in her explanations.
In the first bag I skipped the pockets. If you do this, don’t for get to fold up the facing as that is in the pocket step.
I made the bag all the way to just before the handles and then waxed it. I plan to try Otter Wax’s brush on stuff next as opposed to the bar.
I am having a blast choosing fabric and my newfound love of rivets and snaps!!
