Description
The Evelyn Messenger bag pattern . PDF Bag sewing pattern.
You will need:
Outer fabric 0.5m (1/2yd) – Medium weight fabric of your choice – furnishing fabric weights work well tweed or denims too. You can use cotton sheeting prints, but add a layer of medium weight fusible interlining to add a bit of substance
Lining 0.5m (1/2yd) – Any light weight fabric of your choice. Use a contrasting print or a striking plain colour.
Medium fusible interlining 0.25m (1/4 yd) – I use Vilene F220
Fusible compressed fleece 0.5m (1/2yd) – I use Vilene Thermolam one side fusible, which gives a bit of squishy bulk too. Fusible foam also works well.
Magnetic clasp – 18mm
1.5” wide Cotton webbing 68 inch (170cm) to make the strap or a pre-made bought strap if you prefer
2 x 1.5” square rings and slider to make the strap, or 2 x 1.5” D rings if you are using a detachable bought strap.
18” (46cm) leather or faux leather strapping half inch (1.25cm) wide. You could use contrast ribbon if preferred
A half inch (1.25cm) lobster clasp
All Purpose thread to match outer
