This pattern shows you how to easily make a beautiful cross-body bag with detachable anti-theft purse. It has an adjustable cross-body strap and magnetic snap closure. Fully lined throughout with a feature phone pocket on the front. The instructions walk you through, in simple steps, how to construct the roomy box cornered bag and cute detachable purse including how to create adjustable webbing straps, and attaching magnetic clasp closures.

I made this example up in wool tweed, but it is suitable for most medium weight fabrics including tweeds, denim and medium weight cottons.
Make from just half a yard each outer and lining.

Supplies needed for the bag:
Outer fabric 0.5m (1/2yd) – Medium weight fabric of your choice – furnishing fabric weights work well tweed or denims too.
Lining 0.5m (1/2yd) – Any light weight fabric of your choice.
Medium fusible interlining 0.25m (1/4 yd) – I use Vilene F220
Fusible compressed fleece 0.5m (1/2yd) – I use Vilene Thermolam one side fusible
Magnetic clasp – 18mm
1.5” wide Cotton webbing 68 inch (170cm) to make the strap or a pre-made bought strap if you prefer
2 x 1.5” square rings and slider to make the strap.
18” (46cm) leather or faux leather strapping half inch (1.25cm) wide. Or contrast ribbon if preferred
A half inch (1.25cm) lobster clasp
